Mom needs a damn job.

Hey, Hazelden. I'm right here for ya, baby. All you gotta do is call.

9/3/08: HAZELDEN UPDATE: THEY ARE CURRENTLY ON A HIRING FREEZE AND I MAY OR MAY NOT RECEIVE A CALL TO INTERVIEW WHEN THE HIRING FREEZE IS "THAWED".
GREAT. AT LEAST I KNOW THEY'RE FAILURE TO CALL ME WASN'T ENTIRELY MY FAULT.

A Picture with Mom

He really was happier than he looks when we took this picture. We had one where he was smiling really big, but it was super blurry and made me look like I had werewolf fangs. So, we won't post that one.

Here are some other pictures I've taken of Garrett recently that are kind of fun. Enjoy:

Someone finally took a pacifier. It was a pacifier that was supposedly four months too big for him. Look how huge it is on his face! Too bad it was only for a week...

We were playing on the floor of his room. He was looking at the baby in the picture on the side of that box. I left to go to the bathroom, when I came back, he was asleep. I guess that baby wasn't as exciting as he thought.

This is what I typically see when I go in to get him in the mornings. Aw.

Someone got all tuckered out from his walk. Did I mention he was just in the stroller?

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Fonstad for the great toy that makes all the loud noises!

The High Chair

Today I unloaded Garrett's high chair. I wanted to take pictures of him in it so his dad could see how cute he was. Little did I know that he would offer up this gem of a picture for us both to enjoy. What a peanut.

Trip to Madison!

This weekend, our whole fam took a trip to Madison so little G could meet his mom's friends. Unfortunately, out of all the visits we made, this was the only picture that I took of Garrett meeting new people. Don't get me wrong, this is a great picture. I just wish I had more like it.

In this picture, Aunt Hillary is holding Garrett after her mom had her turn. Hillary's mom gave us a great toy! It's a sock puppet of a cat that meows out tunes like "Old Macdonald" and "London Bridge" when you press its mouth together. Garrett cried the first time I tried to play with it, but then he lightened up.

Earlier today, I left the cat puppet on the couch and this is what I found:

Apparently, Sonny has made a new friend. It's a bit "intimate" for a first meeting, but who am I to judge? What a floozy.

Impetigo Outbreak

So sad...

Our poor little guy. If it's not one thing, it's another. We went to the doctor this weekend to find out why Garrett's face is so red and raw. Turns out, he has impetigo. Great.

Apparently, it's a contagious infection that's kind of like staph. We've had him on antibiotics for a couple of days now and he's not contagious anymore. We are planning a trip to Madison this weekend and are happy that we got this figured out before we had to cancel anything. And for those of you on our list of visitors, you'll be happy to know he'll be no danger to anyone.

And how is that for a nice introduction to all of mom's friends?? "Hi! See my beautiful baby? Don't worry. You can't catch it!"

Such a face

A happy boy enjoying his new toy. We received an "exersaucer" from our friends Sue and her baby Seth.

It's amazing to see Garrett so upright! He's usually on his back or reclining.

Who needs to pay to have pictures taken? I'm awesome at this!

Working very hard to pick up that rattle!

Today Garrett revealed his first real laugh! He was lying in his jungle gym and I was leaning over him. I was making funny faces and he started laughing! Not just big smiles with noise, but actual laughing. Cal and I could see his little belly going up and down with his laughing breaths! It was so cool that Cal and I both had tears in our eyes. After all these months of cries, it was so rewarding to hear exclamations of JOY!

Mmmm...Tasty Bjorn!

Little Garrett has been much happier lately and Mom and Dad are thankful! He had his first evening with his new babysitter, Jasmine, last night. Happily, he went to bed very easily for her and slept well through the night (NOTE: that does not say "slept through" the night). I'm glad to know that we've found a babysitter we like and that Garrett seems to be comfortable with, too.

We've also begun our journey into sleep training. I thought this was going to be an awful experience and very difficult to maintain. However, we're on day two, and Garrett is doing very well! He lays down for naps, whines for about 3 minutes, and goes to sleep on his own. That was not my expectation! I'm happy to know that when day care comes, it won't be a big hassle to get him down for naps. Now, if only we could get him to nap 2-3 times per day instead of 5-6 thirty minute naps each day!!
